ATEX 114 Harmonized European Standards
European standards concerning explosion safety are designed to ensure the safety and health of individuals, as well as the integrity of installations and products.
Potentially explosive environments are defined as areas where an explosive atmosphere may develop due to the mixture of air under atmospheric conditions with flammable substances in the form of gases, vapors, mists, and/or dust.
The screw conveyors from Klinkenberg Zaanstad BV are ATEX-certified for internal Zone 20 (1D). These screw conveyors hold ATEX-type approval for dust (Dust) – including pressure shock-resistant versions – granted by the Notified Body ExNB. Specific test units were constructed and subjected to mechanical impact and pressure testing under supervision of the Notified Body.
The certification process ensures that internal procedures are documented and required records are compiled to achieve ATEX certification for the screw conveyor. It is essential that the customer provides ATEX product data in order to assess the situation.

To qualify for type certification, it is necessary to hold an ISO 9001:2015 certificate as a basis. In addition to the ISO 9001:2015 audit, the Notified Body performs a supplementary quality audit. Based on this audit, the Notified Body issues a declaration of conformity regarding the quality description of our production process for ATEX equipment.
In addition to screw conveyors, our horizontal and vertical agitator hoppers are also ATEX-certified.
