Klinkenberg delivers high-quality screw conveyors, dosing screws, and discharge systems. It all starts with an innovative design and continues through to the final finish.

Modern coating systems consist of a primer, one or more intermediate layers, and a topcoat. Each layer has a specific function. The primer is applied in the workshop or factory, followed by the intermediate layers—usually also applied in the workshop or factory—and finally the topcoat, which may be applied either in-house or on-site.

For stainless steel finishing, we use water-peening techniques (viwateQ). This reduces surface roughness to a Ra of 0.5, compared to a Ra of 0.8 for cold-rolled stainless steel plates. You can find more information about our stainless steel finishing here.

Pickling & Passivation

After welding or heat treatment of stainless steel, oxides such as scale, mill scale, and heat tint can form. These oxides are removed through pickling, restoring a clean and pure surface. Subsequent passivation enhances corrosion resistance by eliminating any residual iron or foreign metals from the surface.

Klinkenberg has its own treatment baths measuring approximately 7000 × 1500 mm, ensuring that all machines leave our facility meeting the highest quality standards.

Beitsen & Passiveren

Passivating Stainless Steel

Passivation of stainless steel is carried out using a nitric acid-based solution in a bath measuring 7000 × 1500 mm to restore the oxide layer. This layer may have been damaged by welding or mechanical processing.

Properties:

  • Removes a thin layer of metal
  • Affects the oxide layer
  • Removes mill scale and heat tint
  • Eliminates corrosion products
Passiveren RVS

Grinding, Polishing, Superfinishing & High-Gloss Polishing

Industries such as medical, pharmaceutical, food, and chemical sectors demand high surface finishing standards from manufacturers. Klinkenberg offers various finishing levels including grinding, polishing, superfinishing, mirror polishing, and electropolishing.

  • Shorter CIP / SIP cycles

Slijpen, Polijsten, superfinishen & hoogglanspolijsten

Using one of the above-mentioned finishes provides the end user with clear benefits such as:

  • Harder material surface
  • Less prone to scratching

The material surface becomes harder and more scratch-resistant.
Our testing and measurement methods follow ASTM D4417 Method A.

Klinkenberg GMP Finishing Standards

  1. GMP1: Welds are free of pores and cracks, pickled and passivated inside and out.

  2. GMP2: (Includes GMP1) + Internal and external Viwateq finish (bead blasting with water).

  3. GMP3: (Includes GMP1 & GMP2) + Product-contact welds are ground to a Ra value of 0.8 µm.

  4. GMP4: (Includes GMP1, GMP2 - external only, and GMP3) + Internal mirror polishing or electropolishing.
